Using Feng Shui to Buy a Home - the Neighborhood
Feng Shui principles are a great tool in buying a home. I like to start with the neighborhood. Many people overlook the neighbors and neighborhood when purchasing a home. Certainly crime ratings are a thought, but the drive in and out of your neighborhood is not usually something a buyer thinks about.
So here are a few things to consider:
Drive to your prospective home at odd times, weekends, late at night and different times of the day. Look at the traffic, the kinds of cars parked on the street, the noise level and be aware of churches, schools with sporting events or powerful lights and loudspeakers.
Look at the telephone polls which also have the electrical supply lines attached to them. Are there large electrical transformers around your house, large power stations or high-tension electrical supply lines?
Do you enjoy the drive to your neighborhood and through it? Does it make you feel peaceful and like you are coming home?
Do you have a large water tower or water storage near by?
Do you have large antennas or satellite dishes aimed at your house?
What does the name of your street make you think of? Do you feel pride in saying your address or does it make you giggle?
Is the house next door taller than your home - will you be in somebody's shadow?
Look at the other houses - are developers scraping older homes and building new ones? How much disruption will that new construction be to your home and your life?
How is your neighborhood zoned? Will commercial offices or businesses move into your immediate neighborhood?
These are just a few considerations to take into account when buying your next home. In Feng Shui we are concerned about energy and how energy moves and affects those living in a home or neighborhood. It's all about how it feels, so look at your new neighborhood with different eyes.
How does it feel to drive home or be in your front yard?
